Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Beach could be acquired at Sothebys in London in May 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters auction, the work Portrait Of John Newman (D. 1799), Of Barwick Park, Yeovil; And A Portrait Of His Wife, Grace Newman, Née Hoskins changed hands for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,638.92) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Beach - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13, which sold at auction in December 2018 for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,207.88).
