Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a black jacket and white cravat by Thomas Beach. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 893.00 (€ 1,419.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Beach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13 in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,207.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a black jacket and white cravat von Thomas Beach zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 893,00 (€ 1.419,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Beach erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13 im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.207,88).
