Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a Gentleman, bust-length, in a red coat by Thomas Beach was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,434.00 (€ 1,246.74). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Beach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13 in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,207.88).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a Gentleman, bust-length, in a red coat von Thomas Beach im Juni 2003 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.434,00 (€ 1.246,74) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Beach erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13 im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.207,88).
