Sold at the lower estimate price
The work The Rapids Of The Victoria Falls, Zambezi River by Thomas Baines was sold in the Topographical Pictures auction at Christies in London in December 2017. The result of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 56,267.68) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Baines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 574,750.00 (€ 675,183.19).
