This artwork by Thomas Baines achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2016. In the Topographical Pictures auction, the work Koodoos, Luisi River, Zambesi Valley sold for GBP 149,000.00 (€ 174,205.17) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Baines - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls, which sold at auction in March 2021 for GBP 574,750.00 (€ 675,183.19).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Baines erzielte im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Topographical Pictures wurde die Arbeit Koodoos, Luisi River, Zambesi Valley für GBP 149.000,00 (€ 174.205,17) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Baines mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls beobachtet, die im März 2021 für GBP 574.750,00 (€ 675.183,19) versteigert wurde.
