Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The "Pottinger", "Magellanes" & "Nostra Senora della Carmine" returning to Table Bay after a gale, the "Israel" on shore, 1847 by Thomas Baines was sold in the Topographical Pictures with Australian Art auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,993.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Baines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 574,750.00 (€ 675,183.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The "Pottinger", "Magellanes" & "Nostra Senora della Carmine" returning to Table Bay after a gale, the "Israel" on shore, 1847 von Thomas Baines wurde im Dezember 2018 in der Auktion Topographical Pictures with Australian Art bei Christies in London versteigert.
