This artwork by Thomas Allom achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2006. In the Travel and Natural History auction, the work The Odalique or Favorite of the Harem, Constantinople; The Slave Merchant, Constantinople; Circassian Slaves, Constantinople; and The Turkish Scribe sold for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,075.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Allom achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sack of Corinth in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 64,353.63).
