Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work San Giorgio Maggiore And The Campanile Seen Across The Venetian Lagoon by Theodore Wendel was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,746.35). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Theodore Wendel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Woman by the Sea, Cape Ann, Massachusetts in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 72,000.00 (€ 60,800.54).

Als die Arbeit San Giorgio Maggiore And The Campanile Seen Across The Venetian Lagoon von Theodore Wendel im April 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.746,35) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Theodore Wendel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Woman by the Sea, Cape Ann, Massachusetts im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.000,00 (€ 60.800,54).
