It achieved a price of GBP 13,700.00 (€ 18,615.98), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 71%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pseudo-Simons - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Grapes on the vine, plums, apples, pears and other fruit and flowers all in a wicker basket, a red squirrel eating acorns, a partially peeled lemon on a silver dish with cherries, oranges and figs on a stone table ledge; and Grapes on the vine, plums, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 47,800.00 (€ 73,935.78).
