This artwork by Thawan Duchanee achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2018. In the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections auction, the work Rickshaw sold for HKD 1,150,000.00 (€ 129,797.76) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thawan Duchanee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scream of Sorrowful in November this year with an auction result of HKD 6,048,000.00 (€ 709,702.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thawan Duchanee erzielte im November 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections wurde die Arbeit Rickshaw für HKD 1.150.000,00 (€ 129.797,76) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 400.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thawan Duchanee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scream of Sorrowful im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 6.048.000,00 (€ 709.702,97).
