2 o (409 x 283 mm). 42 plates, including portrait, printed in shades of bistre, sepia, and grey (some minor mostly marginal staining). Contemporary calf gilt (rebacked). Provenance: Bettisfield Library (1789 inscription on pastedown); Thomas Henmer (signature on front free endpaper); acquired from Grinke, 1978.
FIRST EDITION. A collection of drawings after the Bolognese artist Tesi, illustrating stage designs, architectural capricci, catafalques and tombs, etc. He was one of the early proponents of neo-classical style in Bologna. The memorial tablet for Tesi at end is designed by Carlo Bianconi (1732-1802). Berlin Kat. 2644; Cicognara 863.
