Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Showa Era (1926-1989), 1984 by Masami Teraoka was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,912.50 (€ 1,651.98). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Masami Teraoka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Cloisters Venus and Pope's Workout in November 2009 with an auction result of HKD 4,820,000.00 (€ 414,685.87).
