Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Dynamo III, Studying Magnetic Fields and Impending Pole Reversal, University of Maryland, Nonlinear Dynamics Laboratory College Park, Maryland by Taryn Simon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,100.00 (€ 5,133.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Taryn Simon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Larry Mayes, Scene of Arrest, The Royal Inn, Gary, Indiana. Police found Mayes hiding beneath a mattress in this room. Served 18,5 years of an 80-year sentence for rape, robbery and unlawful deviate., which sold at auction in June 2021 for EUR 18,060.00.
