Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cattle watering in a river landscape by Sidney Yates Johnson was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 262.90 (€ 397.30). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sidney Yates Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountainous river landscapes, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 1,015.75 (€ 1,524.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cattle watering in a river landscape von Sidney Yates Johnson im Juli 2004 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 262,90 (€ 397,30) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Sidney Yates Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountainous river landscapes beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 1.015,75 (€ 1.524,00) versteigert wurde.
