Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Punting on the river by Sidney Yates Johnson was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 180.00 (€ 262.95). Admittedly, works by Sidney Yates Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mountainous river landscapes in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 1,015.75 (€ 1,524.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Punting on the river von Sidney Yates Johnson im August 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 180,00 (€ 262,95) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sidney Yates Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mountainous river landscapes im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.015,75 (€ 1.524,00).
