Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Western Art, which included the work Chilkat Canoes in an Alaskan Landscape by Sydney Laurence. It changed hands for a price of USD 24,320.00 (€ 22,295.56) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Laurence - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cache, which sold at auction in December 2008 for USD 98,500.00 (€ 70,766.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Western Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chilkat Canoes in an Alaskan Landscape von Sydney Laurence zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 24.320,00 (€ 22.295,56) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sydney Laurence mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Cache beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für USD 98.500,00 (€ 70.766,58) versteigert wurde.
