In August 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Portrait of the WestThe Diane and Sam Stewart Collection, which included the work Aurora Borealis, Juneau by Sydney Laurence. The »bidding war« ended at USD 22,812.50 (€ 19,332.63), 27% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Laurence - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cache, which sold at auction in December 2008 for USD 98,500.00 (€ 70,766.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im August 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Portrait of the WestThe Diane and Sam Stewart Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Aurora Borealis, Juneau von Sydney Laurence zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 22.812,50 (€ 19.332,63) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Sydney Laurence mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Cache beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für USD 98.500,00 (€ 70.766,58) versteigert wurde.
