Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Svetoslav Roerich achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2009. In the Russian Art auction, the work Russian The Sojourner, Circa 1920S sold for USD 98,500.00 (€ 74,373.30) - well above the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Svetoslav Roerich - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of A Tibetan Woman And Her Granddaughter, which sold at auction in April 2006 for USD 262,400.00 (€ 207,858.05).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Svetoslav Roerich erzielte im April 2009 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Art wurde die Arbeit Russian The Sojourner, Circa 1920S für USD 98.500,00 (€ 74.373,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 40.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Svetoslav Roerich mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of A Tibetan Woman And Her Granddaughter beobachtet, die im April 2006 für USD 262.400,00 (€ 207.858,05) versteigert wurde.
