Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Svetoslav Roerich achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2009. In the Russian Art auction, the work Russian The Lama, Circa 1920S sold for USD 146,500.00 (€ 110,616.13) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Svetoslav Roerich; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of A Tibetan Woman And Her Granddaughter sold at auction in April 2006 with the realized price of USD 262,400.00 (€ 207,858.05).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Svetoslav Roerich erzielte im April 2009 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Art wurde die Arbeit Russian The Lama, Circa 1920S für USD 146.500,00 (€ 110.616,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Svetoslav Roerich; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of A Tibetan Woman And Her Granddaughter im April 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 262.400,00 (€ 207.858,05).
