Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work I Beg Your Pardon: The Scorpion Act Ii - An Actor Meditating On A Character Of An Imaginary Play by Surendran Nair. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 35,113.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Surendran Nair - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Labyrinth Of Eternal Delight, which sold at auction in December 2014 for INR 6,225,000.00 (€ 81,278.41).
