Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Self-Portrait) by Sunil Das was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,700.00 (€ 1,737.71). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sunil Das achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Friends 1 in July 2007 with an auction result of USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,256.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Self-Portrait) von Sunil Das im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.700,00 (€ 1.737,71) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sunil Das erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Friends 1 im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 36.000,00 (€ 26.256,29).
