signed with monogram, inscribed and dated 'Or the woman who always/gets tipsy at parties/The Very Shy Woman/was Told by her mother she must/always sing for her supper but/she finds it an impossibility/without the aid of at least/2 glasses of champagne and then/its the slippery slope so/she always gets tipsy at/parties/the other thing is, she loves dressing up, for which theres/little point unless you go/out.... she's terribly/sweet & insecure' (lower right)

Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sue Macartney-Snape could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental auction, the work 'The very shy woman' changed hands for GBP 360.00 (€ 522.52) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Admittedly, works by Sue Macartney-Snape have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunday morning in the shires in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 3,346.00 (€ 4,735.51).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sue Macartney-Snape konnte im Dezember 2005 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental wechselte die Arbeit 'The very shy woman' für GBP 360,00 (€ 522,52) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00.
