Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fat Rod, Orange by Stuart Cumberland was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,554.08). Other works by Stuart Cumberland have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2019 by the work John Surtees at GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,362.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fat Rod, Orange von Stuart Cumberland im November 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.554,08) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Stuart Cumberland wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im April 2019 die Arbeit John Surtees mit GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.362,33).
