This artwork by Sophie Calle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in April this year. In the Photographs auction, the work The Shadow (La Filature) sold for USD 53,340.00 (€ 48,315.22) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sophie Calle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Sleepers (Les dormeurs), which sold at auction in November 2011 for USD 218,500.00 (€ 162,417.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 78 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sophie Calle erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit The Shadow (La Filature) für USD 53.340,00 (€ 48.315,22) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sophie Calle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) beobachtet, die im November 2011 für USD 218.500,00 (€ 162.417,30) versteigert wurde.
