In May last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Poems in Running Script by Song Cao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 189,000.00 (€ 22,438.36), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Song Cao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poem In Cursive Script in September 2012 with an auction result of USD 158,500.00 (€ 123,288.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Poems in Running Script von Song Cao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 189.000,00 (€ 22.438,36) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Song Cao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poem In Cursive Script im September 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 158.500,00 (€ 123.288,74).
