In May 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION, which included the work Self Portrait by William Dobell. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 46,605.00 (€ 28,648.36), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self Portrait von William Dobell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 46.605,00 (€ 28.648,36) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
