The work New Guinea by William Dobell was sold in the THE W.R. BURGE COLLECTION auction at Christies in Sydney in March 2006. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 20,315.00 (€ 11,990.85), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).

Die Arbeit New Guinea von William Dobell wurde im März 2006 in der Auktion THE W.R. BURGE COLLECTION bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 20.315,00 (€ 11.990,85) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
