In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work George Henry Gibbs (1785-1842), facing right in grey coat, cream coloured waistcoat and black cravat by William Charles Ross. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,195.00 (€ 1,871.39), 71% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Charles Ross achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) As A Child, Holding The Long Blue Silk Ribbons Of Her Hat, In White Dress, Black Coat, Wearing A Blue-Lined Straw Hat Adorned With Black And Blue Ribbons On Her Curly Fair Hair; Landscape Background in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,563.12).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) As A Child, Holding The Long Blue Silk Ribbons Of Her Hat, In White Dress, Black Coat, Wearing A Blue-Lined Straw Hat Adorned With Black And Blue Ribbons On Her Curly Fair Hair; Landscape Background im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 22.563,12).
