This artwork by Stanley Spencer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2021. In the Modern & Post War British Art Day Sale auction, the work Windmill, Near Wangford sold for GBP 119,700.00 (€ 139,481.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Stanley Spencer erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Post War British Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Windmill, Near Wangford für GBP 119.700,00 (€ 139.481,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Spencer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.018.500,00 (€ 7.242.459,25).
