It achieved a price of GBP 2,016.00 (€ 2,222.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 34%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roland Penrose achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Artifact in February 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,722.79).

Die Arbeit The Sea Monster Salutes With Love von Roland Penrose wurde im September 2020 in der Auktion Made in Britain bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.016,00 (€ 2.222,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 34%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roland Penrose erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Artifact im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.722,79).
