Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Roland Penrose achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs & Melvin Jacobs Online Sale auction, the work Hommage à Man Ray, from La Logique Assassine sold for USD 1,008.00 (€ 939.33) - well above the upper estimate of USD 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roland Penrose achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Artifact in February 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,722.79).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Roland Penrose erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs & Melvin Jacobs Online Sale wurde die Arbeit Hommage à Man Ray, from La Logique Assassine für USD 1.008,00 (€ 939,33) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roland Penrose erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Artifact im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.722,79).
