In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR, which included the work Viscount Valentia Irish Peer and Comptroller of the Queen's Household by Leslie Matthew Ward. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,528.51), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Leslie Matthew Ward have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Earl of Darnley, 'Ivo' Cricketer in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,125.99).

Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR durch, in der auch die Arbeit Viscount Valentia Irish Peer and Comptroller of the Queen's Household von Leslie Matthew Ward zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.120,00 (€ 4.528,51) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Leslie Matthew Ward auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Earl of Darnley, 'Ivo' Cricketer im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.125,99).
