In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR, which included the work Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim, 'In the Clouds' Engineer and Inventor by Leslie Matthew Ward. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,400.00 (€ 7,837.80), 54% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leslie Matthew Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Earl of Darnley, 'Ivo' Cricketer, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,125.99).

Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim, 'In the Clouds' Engineer and Inventor von Leslie Matthew Ward zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.400,00 (€ 7.837,80) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Leslie Matthew Ward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Earl of Darnley, 'Ivo' Cricketer beobachtet, die im Dezember 2005 für GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.125,99) versteigert wurde.
