It achieved a price of AUD 9,165.00 (€ 5,320.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 31%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John William Ashton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour, which sold at auction in November 2000 for AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).
