The work Spring by John William Ashton was auctioned at Christies in Sydney in August 2001. It achieved a price of AUD 9,987.50 (€ 5,798.02), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 43%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John William Ashton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour, which sold at auction in November 2000 for AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).
