The »bidding war« ended at AUD 5,875.00 (€ 3,555.81), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John William Ashton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour in November 2000 with an auction result of AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).
