Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saucy Jack'S Scrap Book Of Drawings On Board The Yacht Amethyst by John Tenniel was sold in the British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction at Christies in London in December 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 582.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Tenniel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Nuts To Crack’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,310.27).
