In the The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer auction, the work ‘Post Equitem!’ (‘Behind The Horseman Sits Black Care!’) ‘At The Next Election The People Of England Will Have To Decide The Question In What Way They Will Be Governed.’ – Gladstone At Greenwich’ sold for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,992.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Tenniel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Nuts To Crack’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,310.27).
