In February 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work The British Herbal: Eight Plates by John Hill. The auction ended at the price of USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,293.75), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eden, or a compleat body of gardening, London, 1757, modern red morocco, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,411.35).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit The British Herbal: Eight Plates von John Hill zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 3.000,00 (€ 2.293,75) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Hill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eden, or a compleat body of gardening, London, 1757, modern red morocco beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.411,35) versteigert wurde.
