This artwork by John Hill achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2006. In the The House Sale auction, the work The British Herbal: Six Plates sold for USD 4,560.00 (€ 3,594.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eden, or a compleat body of gardening, London, 1757, modern red morocco, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,411.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Hill erzielte im September 2006 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The House Sale wurde die Arbeit The British Herbal: Six Plates für USD 4.560,00 (€ 3.594,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Hill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eden, or a compleat body of gardening, London, 1757, modern red morocco beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.411,35) versteigert wurde.
