Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Everett Millais could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work The Tribe Of Benjamin Seizing The Daughters Of Shiloh In The Vineyards changed hands for USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,089.43) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Everett Millais achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sisters in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 2,301,875.00 (€ 2,630,293.40).
