The work Mournful Madrigal by Jacob Epstein was sold in the Outside In: The Dr. Jeffrey Sherwin Collection auction at Christies in London in November 2019. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,696.98), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Epstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir Winston Churchill in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 182,500.00 (€ 228,025.02).

Die Arbeit Mournful Madrigal von Jacob Epstein wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion Outside In: The Dr. Jeffrey Sherwin Collection bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.696,98) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Epstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sir Winston Churchill im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 182.500,00 (€ 228.025,02).
