Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Godfrey Kneller could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Paintings auction, the work Portrait of Robert Brown, three-quarter-length, in a grey coat changed hands for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,604.53) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Godfrey Kneller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 64,890.31).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Godfrey Kneller konnte im November 2016 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master and British Paintings wechselte die Arbeit Portrait of Robert Brown, three-quarter-length, in a grey coat für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.604,53) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Godfrey Kneller erzielen.
