Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman at a table by Godfrey Kneller. The price achieved of USD 13,860.00 (€ 12,915.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Godfrey Kneller have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 64,890.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman at a table von Godfrey Kneller zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 13.860,00 (€ 12.915,85) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Godfrey Kneller auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.900,00 (€ 64.890,31).
