The work Portrait of Doddington Montagu, Countess of Manchester (1672-1721), bust-length, in a blue dress by Godfrey Kneller was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The auction ended at the price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,684.53), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Godfrey Kneller have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 64,890.31).
