Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Nicola Matteis (C.1640-1714) by Godfrey Kneller was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2013. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,750.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Godfrey Kneller have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 64,890.31).
