Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, With A Siege Beyond by Godfrey Kneller. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,768.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Godfrey Kneller have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 64,890.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, With A Siege Beyond von Godfrey Kneller zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 12.768,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Godfrey Kneller auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Dorset, Full-Length, In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, Leaning On A Stone Pedestal With Her Left Hand, Beside A Draped Curtain im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.900,00 (€ 64.890,31).
