Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Death Of Elspeth Mucklebackit From Scott'S The Antiquary by Edwin Henry Landseer. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,773.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Henry Landseer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Scene in Chillingham Park: Portrait of Lord Ossulston', or 'Death of the Wild Bull' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,271,650.00 (€ 1,856,568.89).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.773,54) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Henry Landseer erzielen.
