In January 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Otto Naumann Sale, which included the work A Dead Stag, With Sketched Figures Of A Ghillie And Hounds by Edwin Henry Landseer. The »bidding war« ended at USD 212,500.00 (€ 170,984.87), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Henry Landseer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Scene in Chillingham Park: Portrait of Lord Ossulston', or 'Death of the Wild Bull' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,271,650.00 (€ 1,856,568.89).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 170.984,87) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Henry Landseer erzielen.
