In the 19th Century European Art and Orientalist Art auction, the work Smugglers Alarmed by an Unexpected Change from Hazy Weather while Landing Their Cargo sold for USD 58,600.00 (€ 40,503.18) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Augustus Wall Callcott; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot View of The Grote Kerk, Rotterdam, With Figures And Boats In The Foreground sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 31,200.00 (€ 46,332.98).
